Like giant toys discarded by a careless child, this collection of abandoned aeroplanes is a stark reminder of the current parlous state of the air industry.
Pristine aircraft owned by stricken budget airlines from around the world are being stored at Lasham Airfield near Basingstoke as they wait for their future to be decided.
XL Airways planes sit side-by-side with aircraft once owned by Futura International Airways a carrier based in Majorca, Spain, that was declared bankrupt in September.
