Vishing Attacks on the Rise

Posted by dnrestcom in VoIPphonehacks

"The recent attacks were conducted by hackers exploiting a security vulnerability in Asterisk software. [...] The vulnerability can be exploited by cyber criminals to use the system as an auto dialer, generating thousands of vishing telephone calls to consumers within one hour," reads IC3's warning.

John Todd, Digium's community director, has written a response on the company's blog in which he notes that "the nature of the warning is extremely vague, and has left us guessing as to what the exact issue is that they reference, and how Asterisk is involved." Google adds searching by voice to iPhone software

Posted by dnrestcom in TechnologySoftwarephoneiPhonegadgets

Pushing ahead in the decades-long effort to get computers to understand human speech, Google researchers have added sophisticated voice recognition technology to the company's search software for the Apple iPhone.

Users of the free application, which Apple is expected to make available as soon as Friday through its iTunes store, can place the phone to their ear and ask virtually any question, like "Where's the nearest Starbucks?" or "How tall is Mount Everest?" The sound is converted to a digital file and sent to Google's servers, which try to determine the words spoken and pass them along to the Google search engine.

The search results, which may be displayed in just seconds on a fast wireless network, will at times include local information, taking advantage of iPhone features that let it determine its location.

Wi-Fi brings down the cost of mobile calls

The cost of talking on the go is coming down, thanks to an increasing number of options for using Internet calling services on cellphones as an alternative to traditional cellular service plans.

Nokia is one of the biggest makers of cellphones that include chips for using Wi-Fi, the short-range wireless technology. Some high-profile devices are equipped with the technology, including Apple's iPhone and some BlackBerry models from Research In Motion. The soon-to-be-released G1 Google phone from HTC and T-Mobile also sports a Wi-Fi chip.

Great game by gameloft!

Posted by dnrestcom in phonegamesDaily

Just now I am looking for the new game for my mobile phone through Sony Ericsson WAP services application. From my experience, I thought that if I find out the games through WAP services it would be so bored and still not updated yet from the provider. Because of I do nothing today, and got some problem with the internet connection in my house so I decide to go online perhaps I got something new with the application through my phone.
